Leadership:

Assistant
Scoutmasters
Duties:
-
Each ASM can be
assigned specific program duties by the SM and reports to the
SM. They also provide the required two-deep leadership standards
set by the Boy Scouts of America.

Assists SM in
providing Troop program.
-
Assists in
boy-leader training.
-
Conducts SM
conferences for rank advancement.
-
Serves as an
adult leader at outdoor activities.
-
Will be properly
uniformed at Troop meetings and activities.
-
Fosters Patrol
unity and teamwork.
-
Types of ASMs
include:
-
ASM (New
Scouts)- He works with the new Scouts to make sure that they
are properly acclimated into the Troop and encourages them
to make First Class within their first year. He works with
the new Scout Patrol and has the additional responsibilities
of recruiting new members into the Troop.

ASM
(Patrols)- He works with the Patrol Leader in carrying out
the PL's activity responsibilities for the weekly Troop
meetings and camp-outs and generally acts as a counselor to
each Patrol. See Patrol Leader Duties.
Qualifications:
-
Same as the SM qualifications, except that he
must take the Basic Leader Training course as soon as is
feasible.

He is appointed by the SM and approved by the
Troop committee.
